THE COLOSTRUM
Colostrum is produced by the mother during pregnancy and is the first milk she secretes just before giving birth, and no later than 24 hours. Is thick, yellowish and clearly different from normal milk that she will synthetize later. Colostrum is rich in immunoglobulins that will serve as the foal's first protection against invading organisms.
It is essential that the foal takes colostrum in the first hours of life, since it is only then when his digestive system can absorb the immunoglobulins.

ENERGY FOR THE FIRST DAYS
The first 72 hours of the foal's life are high risk. It is advisable to provide energy support to the foal, especially if it is an orphan, weak or underweight foal.
