Treatment of infections in horses caused by microorganisms sensitive to the combinations of trimethoprim and sulfadiazine, such as infections of the upper respiratory tract, the genitourinary tract and wound infections.

Administration in food.
Dosage:
The recommended dose is 30mg of the active substances together (25mg of sulfadiazine and 5mg of trimethoprim) per kg of live weight, equal to 10g of powder per 100kg, once or twice a day for 5 days. The dose frequency is decided based on the susceptibility of the pathogens involved and the location of the infection. In order for the dose to be correct, it is necessary to determine the live weight as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing. When jars or parts of sachets are used, it is recommended to use calibrated weighing devices for the administration of the calculated quantity of the veterinary medication.

The powder can be mixed with a handful of feed right before administration. The active substances in the powder have a bitter taste. To help in the administration of the veterinary medication, molasses or other sweeteners can be added. If the horse refuses the medicated feed, the treatment should be continued with another pharmaceutical form containing the same active substances.
