Equine Difficult Dental Extraction and Sectioning/Fractioning Practical Course
Vendredi 08 Septembre 2023On October 5 and 6, a practical course in equine dentistry will take place at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Zaragoza: Equine Difficult Dental Extraction and Sectioning/Fractioning Practical Course.
PROGRAM:
DAY 1 (Thursday 5 October 2023): Lectures in Class Room
09:30-10:00 - Important features of dental anatomy for difficult extractioncases
10:00-10:30 - Diagnostics and indications for minimally invasive extraction of cheek teeth (MTE/MITR)
10:30-11:00 - When is indicated to perform dentalsectioning/fractioning?
11:00-11:30 - Incisor and canine extraction affected by equine odontoplastic tooth resorption and hypercementosis (EOTRH). Diagnosis, indication for extraction and techniques
11:30-12:00 - Coffee break at commercial area
12:00-12:45 - Radiography, advanced imaging (CT and MRI) and oroscopy to plan extraction on difficult cases
12:45-13:15 - Techniques of minimally invasive extraction of cheek teeth (MTE/MITR)
13:15-14:30 - Spanish local cuisine lunch
14:30-15:15 - Alternative extraction techniques for difficult cases. Use of picks and sectioning/fractioning techniques
15:15-15:45 - Alveolar packing and post-operative management
15:45-16:15 - Complications of dental extraction and its management
16:15-17:15 - Discussion on difficult cases and round table
DAY 2 (Friday 6 October 2023): Practical exercises in laboratory with cadaver heads
09:00-09:15 - Delegate distribution and explanation of laboratory. One adult cadaver head on each station. Each station will have a complete set of instruments to perform each exercise and a DR XR system each 2 stations. At the beginning of each exercise a video will explain the exercise.
09:15-10:15 - Exercise 1 Incisor and canine extraction technique
10:15-11:30 - Exercise 2 MITR technique
11:30-12:45 - Exercise 3 Selected exercise on difficult oral extraction
12:45-14:00 - Spanish local cuisine lunch
14:00-15:15 - Exercise 4 Third molarextraction
15:15-17:30 - Exercise 5 Sectioning/fractioning of premolars and molars

How to complete registration:
The registration can be completed to the Day 1 Lecture Day or both, Day 1 and Day 2, practical exercises. The registration of each program is done separately, however to register for the practical program it is necessary to register for the day 1 Lecture program.
