Basic theoretical-practical course of equine dentistry
Monday 19 February 2024On April 19th and 20th, a BASIC THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL COURSE OF EQUINE DENTISTRY will take place at the UAX Clinical Veterinary Hospital (Madrid), taught by Dr. CARLA MANSO, a veterinarian working exclusively in equine dentistry since 1995 and with extensive experience as a speaker at national and international courses and talks.
Theoretical program:
- Introduction: anatomy, nomenclature, biomechanics...
- Clinical signs of different dental alterations
- Alterations of the incisors and treatment
- Alterations of the canines and treatment
- Alterations of the premolars and molars and treatment
- Inspection to correctly diagnose the different alterations in the horse's mouth
- How to know the horse's age
- Care of the horse's mouth depends on his age, use, specific pathologies, etc.
- The latest advances in equine dentistry and its applications include minimally invasive extractions, restorations, root canal treatment, growth factors, etc.
- Clinical cases
Practical program:
- Checkup of live horses learning how to diagnose and treat present pathologies. Also learning how to prepare platelet-rich fibrin in its different forms and how to use them.
- Checkup of heads of dead horses with which, after diagnosing the present pathologies, different treatments can be learned and practiced.
