What does your horse need in summer? ☀️

Thursday 10 August 2023

During the summer, we can have different problems related to the sun, high temperatures, dry pastures and sand colics, apathy and lack of appetite.

We present you some of the supplements that can help to improve the well-being of your horse during this season.

SUN PROTECTION

The sun's rays can be harmful to your horse. In the same way that we protect ourselves from the sun in the summer, he also needs protection. Above all, horses with light and albino coats and delicate areas such as mucous membranes and around the eyes are extremely sensitive to UV rays, which can cause painful burns. NATJELY is a vaseline with a natural anti-UV filter, ideal to apply in these delicate areas. Its formulation provides excellent hydration to soothe burns and prevent skin problems.

SOLAREN

SOLAREN is the greatest ally against sunburns, especially formulated for the horse's skin. To prevent burns on the muzzle, marks and scars, as well as other areas especially sensitive to the sun.

Properties:

- Total protective barrier against the sun, UV protection.
- Long-lasting: between 3-5 days depending on the skin's hydration.
- White cream, visible but discreet.
- It stays on the skin and is waterproof.

Areas sensitive to the sun:

- Hairless areas.
- Face, especially the muzzle, around the eyes and ears.
- Heels.
- Marks or scars.

APATHY, LACK OF APPETITE OR ENERGY

In the summer, there are many reasons why our horse can be apathetic, with a lack of energy or appetite. The most obvious reason is the high temperatures, but he can also be affected by insects, stress, or he may be recovering from a disease such as piroplasmosis, anemia, etc.

HAEMATINIC
The blood tonic

HAEMATINIC is a very fast-acting formula reinforced with iron, copper, zinc, B vitamins, folic acid and vitamin C, which promotes the formation of red blood cells and supports the blood profile and energy metabolism.

Indications:

Sport horses:

  • Increases resistance to effort and delays the onset of fatigue in horses subjected to intense training or a hard work program.
Weakened or recovering horses:
  • Horses that are weak, fatigued or lack energy and/or appetite.
  • Horses recovering from anemia, piroplasmosis or convalescent due to illness.
  • Weak mares after giving birth.

WEIGHTLOSS

If your horse has trouble gaining weight or regaining it, we recommend the following treatment:

PINK POWDER + OMEGA OIL

PINK POWDER

With its unique formulation of yeasts and prebiotics, Pink Powder helps to improve metabolism, optimize intestinal function, and support the natural digestive process.

OMEGA OIL

OMEGA OIL, with Omega 3, 6 and 9 oils, provides a slow-release energy that is efficiently metabolized by the horse, helping him to gain weight.

SAND INGESTION

Another common problem during the hottest months is sand colics. Pastures are drier, and horses ingest a large amount of sand while grazing. To help expel the sand and prevent more serious problems, it is advisable to administer a supplement with Psyllium (Plantago Ovata) such as Sand Gard.

SAND GARD

Sand Gard favors the natural peristalsis of the intestine, and contains ingredients such as Psyllium (Plantago Ovata), which allows the natural removal of sand accumulated in the intestine, forming a gel with the sand and facilitating its expulsion.
