Description

PHARMACEUTICAL FORM
Injectable emulsion.

SPECIES
Horses.

Indications

For active immunization of horses from 6 months of age against the disease caused by the West Nile virus (WNV) by reducing the number of viremic horses after infection with lineage 1 or lineage 2 West Nile virus and reducing the duration and severity of clinical signs caused by lineage 2 West Nile virus strains.
  • Stablishment of immunity: 3 weeks after the primary vaccination.
  • Duration of immunity: 12 months after the primary vaccination for lineage 1 West Nile virus strains. The duration of immunity for lineage 2 West Nile virus strains has not been stablished.

Dose / Application / Administration

Route of administration:
Deep intramuscular injection in the neck.
Dosage:
Administer the entire contents of the syringe (1ml) according to the following schedule:
  • Primary vaccination: first injection at 6 months of age; second injection 3 – 5 weeks later.
  • Booster injection: a sufficient degree of protection should be achieved after the annual booster injection with a single 1ml dose, although this schedule has not been fully validated.
It can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
No specific studies have been performed on pregnant mares. Consequently, it cannot be excluded that the transient immunosuppression that may be observed during pregnancy may interfere with the response to vaccination.
